From a Strong Story to Healthy Growth
After a well-received first edition last year, Creative Utrecht is hosting the second Masterclass Sustainable Fashion at Kanaal30 on Thursday 12 November. The afternoon is for fashion entrepreneurs, students and alumni, and it tackles two practical questions. How do you build a distinctive story around your business? And how do you grow it in a way that stays manageable for you as a founder?
Rosa Scholtens is a systems designer, supply chain director and project lead in the textile sector. She opens with a talk on the grey area: the image of sustainability is under pressure, yet the sector has never been further along. Where do you stand, and how do you talk about it honestly? Next, Reina Ovinge, founder of The Knitwit Stable, explains how she went back to the raw material after twenty years in international clothing production. She now runs a business built on Dutch wool and a local supply chain.
Fashion retail expert and trainer Marjolein Mesman moderates a panel discussion with the audience. Afterwards, you join one of three round tables to work on cases from your own practice:
- Kiem/Seed, with Belinda Werschkull (Studio Macnas)
- Growth, with Marjolein Mesman and Rosa Scholtens
- Community, with Pleun Pijnenburg
The afternoon ends with networking drinks and a presentation of local work.
