Upcycle Appliqué Workshop Series at sewing café De Steek

In this two-day mas­ter­class you can learn dif­fe­rent appliqué tec­h­niqu­es that teac­her Eloïse appli­es wit­hin her nar­ra­ti­ve texti­le art prac­ti­ce. You will first make a sam­ple of the­se texti­le sur­fa­ces and appli­ca­ti­on tec­h­niqu­es, inclu­ding: blan­ket stit­ch appli­ca­ti­on, need­le twist appli­ca­ti­on, rever­se appli­ca­ti­on and couc­hing. Once you’ve mas­te­red the­se ele­ments, you’re invi­ted to upcy­cle and embel­lish one of your own gar­ments at home using the­se new tec­h­niqu­es you’ve lear­ned.

The wor­k­shop starts with a short pre­sen­ta­ti­on of Eloïse’s work, his­tory, ins­pi­ra­ti­ons, as well as her recent take on the Chi­le­an ​“Arpil­le­ra” pat­c­hwork pro­cess in her new work. Paper ins­truc­ti­ons are also pro­vi­ded during the cour­se.
