How sustainable is Atelier Emé?

Atelier Emé is a wedding dress brand owned by Calzedonia Group, an Italian company that owns five Italian brands. The company offers very limited transparency. There is a sustainability report for the mother company in general, but it is in Italian and does not reveal much relevant data about the company. The information provided is insufficient and provides no evidence of actual efforts for improvement. Calzedonia has signed the Fashion Pact, which is a step in the right direction towards climate action. But with currently no specific targets or measures in place or any information about workers and animal rights, we worry about the actual mechanics of the company.
When a brand offers no information about its operations, there are several risks you take as a consumer. For example, the climate impact of that particular brand or product can be much higher compared to industry peers. The company might use certain harmful chemicals or there might be animals or humans harmed for the manufacturing of the product. For these reasons, we believe that you should be aware of how products are produced and how a company as a whole operates in regard to our pillars. Calzedonia Group does not seem to share the same opinion at the moment. Hopefully this will be different in the future. When there are no reports, you are at risk of supporting some or more of the harmful conditions mentioned above.
