De Steek

De Steek is a sewing school and shop in the Staats­lie­den­buurt dis­trict in Ams­ter­dam-West. The shop and sewing school were foun­ded by desig­ner Nata­lie de Koning and offers everything in the field of (sus­tai­na­ble) hand­ma­de fashion. 

If you’­ve always wan­ted to learn how to sew, this is your chan­ce! You can attend sewing clas­ses, workshops and cour­ses in the cosy sewing cafe. If you are more expe­rien­ced, you can also work inde­pen­dently in the café. In addi­tion, you can find the most beau­ti­ful fabrics, pat­terns and haber­dashery for your sewing pro­jects in the shop. 

The offer in the shop is very eco­lo­gi­cal. The haber­dashery is of good qua­lity and made with as little plas­tic as pos­si­ble, the elas­tic is made of natu­ral rub­ber and the stit­ching thread is made of orga­nic cot­ton and recy­cled pol­yes­ter. With the excep­tion of the recy­cled pol­yes­ter for the swim­wear and lin­ge­rie workshops, all the fabrics in the shop are made from natu­ral materials.
