De Steek is a sewing school and shop in the Staatsliedenbuurt district in Amsterdam-West. The shop and sewing school were founded by designer Natalie de Koning and offers everything in the field of (sustainable) handmade fashion.
If you’ve always wanted to learn how to sew, this is your chance! You can attend sewing classes, workshops and courses in the cosy sewing cafe. If you are more experienced, you can also work independently in the café. In addition, you can find the most beautiful fabrics, patterns and haberdashery for your sewing projects in the shop.
The offer in the shop is very ecological. The haberdashery is of good quality and made with as little plastic as possible, the elastic is made of natural rubber and the stitching thread is made of organic cotton and recycled polyester. With the exception of the recycled polyester for the swimwear and lingerie workshops, all the fabrics in the shop are made from natural materials.
