The two sis­ters Aleks and Pawel con­si­der the pre­ser­va­tion of our pla­net impor­tant and belie­ve that this also goes hand in hand with fair tra­de. To under­pin the prin­ci­ples, the brand claims to work with some natu­ral mate­rials, such as orga­nic cot­ton and vis­co­se. Howe­ver, not all of their collec­tion is sus­tai­na­ble, as the­re are still some pol­yes­ter dres­ses in bet­ween and not all cot­ton is orga­nic. This is a pity COSH! thinks sin­ce Sugarhill Brigh­ton, with their pro­duct lines and sty­le, does have the poten­tial to be com­ple­tely sustainable.

Fair

The wome­n’s brand pro­du­ces at com­pa­nies that follow the ETI (Ethi­cal Tra­ding Initia­ti­ve) code. This means that no child labor or sla­very is per­mit­ted, that wor­king con­di­tions are good and that emplo­yees are paid a fair wage. But at COSH! we have a lot of doubts about the ETI, as some dubio­us fast-fashion chains are also affi­lia­ted with it. Which com­pa­nies Sugarhill coope­ra­tes with is not clear either. So we expect more trans­pa­rency about this.
