Upcycled rebel clothing

Loo­king for a uni­que, rebe­llious out­fit with a roc­king edge? Then SEEFD is what you need. Nao­mi Neijs­sen star­ted 10 years ago as a graphic desig­ner, but lon­ged to give it an extra dimen­sion. In addi­tion to her assign­ments, she also desig­ned illus­tra­tions and prints for pillow covers, scar­ves and t‑shirts, among other things. The idea that her work would really be used and worn was the main moti­ve. But what struck her was that on the one hand she felt the need to coun­te­ract the con­su­mer society and on the other hand she added pro­ducts. Pro­ducts that she could not con­trol pro­perly how they were made, by whom and under what con­di­tions. She went loo­king for other ways, star­ted thin­king about what kind of sus­tai­na­ble pro­ducts she could make. Qui­te a cha­llen­ge… She wants peo­ple to use, wear and che­rish her art. But she does­n’t want to add more ​“new” pro­ducts to a world that needs less. So she deci­ded to use what already exis­ted ins­tead of making everything new. And so SEEFD (yes, yes, you hear it right, saved) a lot of clothes.

So environmentally friendly!

At SEEFD they keep and screen print their love for clothes. They work from and with the first upcy­cle cen­tre in the Nether­lands. They wash, make and repair the clothes that come in. The­se clothes then get the SEEFD sig­na­tu­re look with uni­que hand-pain­ted and screen-prin­ted prints. In this way, they not only extend the life of their gar­ments, but also give them extra value. Clothing with a past beco­mes a can­vas for art and statement. 

Their inks comply with Oeko-Tex Stan­dard 100 Class I and con­tain no sol­vents, no heavy metals, no toxic pig­ments and no PVC. So envi­ron­men­tally friendly! They save water during the screen prin­ting pro­cess of their gar­ments by using just enough ink. This means that they only have to rin­se a small amount of ink from the screen-prin­ting sie­ves used. They clean our sie­ves with rain­wa­ter and use a bio­lo­gi­cal clea­ning agent. 

Some­ti­mes zip­pers are added to the design. The­se are made of pol­yes­ter or cot­ton and metal, but are recy­cled from old gar­ments. If they use but­tons, they are reco­ve­red from post-con­su­mer waste.

All by her self and locally

Who saved, made and fixed the­se clothes? Nao­mi does everything from pro­duc­tion her­self. And sin­ce everything is done locally, the­re is hardly any trans­port invol­ved. Only webshop orders have to get to their des­ti­na­tion in one way or another.
