Rebellious rock

Loo­king for a uni­que, rebel­lious out­fit with a rocking edge? Then SEEFD is what you need. Nao­mi Neijs­sen star­ted 10 years ago as a gra­phic desi­gner, but lon­ged to give it an extra dimen­si­on. In addi­ti­on to her assign­ments, she also desi­gned illus­tra­ti­ons and prints for pil­low covers, scar­ves and t‑shirts, among other things. The idea that her work would real­ly be used and worn was the main moti­ve. But what struck her was that on the one hand she felt the need to coun­ter­act the con­su­mer socie­ty and on the other hand she added pro­ducts. Pro­ducts that she could not con­trol pro­per­ly how they were made, by whom and under what con­di­ti­ons. She went loo­king for other ways, star­ted thin­king about what kind of sus­tainable pro­ducts she could make. Quite a chall­enge… She wants peo­p­le to use, wear and che­rish her art. But she does­n’t want to add more ​“new” pro­ducts to a world that needs less. So she deci­ded to use what alre­a­dy exis­ted ins­tead of making ever­y­thing new. And so SEEFD (yes, yes, you hear it right, saved) a lot of clothes.

So environmentally friendly!

At SEEFD they keep and screen print their love for clo­thes. They work from and with the first upcy­cle cent­re in the Net­her­lands. They wash, make and repair the clo­thes that come in. The­se clo­thes then get the SEEFD signa­tu­re look with uni­que hand-pain­ted and screen-prin­ted prints. In this way, they not only extend the life of their garm­ents, but also give them extra value. Clot­hing with a past beco­mes a can­vas for art and statement. 

Their inks com­ply with Oeko-Tex Stan­dard 100 Class I and con­tain no sol­vents, no hea­vy metals, no toxic pig­ments and no PVC. So envi­ron­men­tal­ly fri­end­ly! They save water during the screen prin­ting pro­cess of their garm­ents by using just enough ink. This means that they only have to rin­se a small amount of ink from the screen-prin­ting sie­ves used. They clean our sie­ves with rain­wa­ter and use a bio­lo­gi­cal clea­ning agent. 

Some­ti­mes zip­pers are added to the design. The­se are made of poly­es­ter or cot­ton and metal, but are recy­cled from old garm­ents. If they use but­tons, they are reco­ver­ed from post-con­su­mer waste.

Who saved, made and fixed the­se clo­thes? Nao­mi does ever­y­thing from pro­duc­tion hers­elf. And sin­ce ever­y­thing is done local­ly, the­re is hard­ly any trans­port invol­ved. Only web­shop orders have to get to their desti­na­ti­on in one way or another.
