Studio Nok Nok

This brand hand makes all items themselves in Mechelen, Belgium. This ensures healthy workplace practices that follow strict EU regulations for ethical production. We do not have information regarding the material sourcing facilities and their ethical nature, however. The brand also conducts annual activities supporting charities close to their heart. The brand also works with Nickel-free materials, which ensures the non-toxicity of products, and safety of the workers, handlers, and wearers.

Studio Nok Nok uses acrylic, recycled and conventional, as their main material. Besides this, they also use stainless steel, brass, and gold and silver for the plating. While stainless steel is a relatively environmentally friendly material, we are unaware of the sustainable sourcing of the other materials. The brand does not mention the chemicals used in the making of the products, or their packaging materials.

Studio Nok Nok uses recyclable materials, as well as some recycled materials, contributing to the material’s circularity. For acrylic, they return their leftover sheets back to the manufacturer, who then turn them into new sheets. They also have a circular business model, as in they make sure to reuse any shipping boxes and materials within the supply chain. Besides this, they don’t provide any take-back of reselling services.

The brand is located in Belgium, and conducts all production in the same location, which shortens the length of the chain considerably. Besides this, however, we are unaware of the material sourcing locations, which makes the true length of the chain unknown. We also do not know their transportation methods, which affect emissions significantly regardless of the length of the supply chain.

The brand does not seem to use any animal materials, making them vegan in theory.

Studio Nok Nok creates minimalist, timeless jewellery based on architecture and fashion. They hand make each item, and produce on demand, avoiding overproduction and waste. They use high quality and durable materials, but besides this, they do not provide any care tips or repair or maintenance services for their products.

The brand provides a lot of clarity regarding their materials used. We would also love to know more regarding the sourcing of the materials, and whether it is sourced ethically and sustainably, as well as more information regarding their chemical use, packaging materials, and transportation methods.
