State of Fashion x VPRO Tegenlicht Meet-up: ​‘Out of The Clothes’

The­re are now so many clot­hes in the wor­ld that the next six gene­ra­ti­ons can be clot­hed with them. The disas­tro­us con­sequ­en­ces of the fashi­on and texti­le indus­try are obvi­ous: massi­ve over­pro­duc­ti­on, pol­lu­ted rivers, metre-high moun­ta­ins of gar­ment was­te and CO2 emi­ssi­ons gre­ater than air and ship­ping com­bi­ned. Yet the fashi­on indus­try is run­ning at full spe­ed and the race to the bot­tom con­ti­nu­es unabated.

Tege­nlic­ht fol­lows four pione­ers on the­ir missi­on to impro­ve the unruly clot­hing indus­try. They work on more sus­ta­ina­ble texti­les, tran­s­pa­rent cha­ins, more soci­al poli­ci­es at major bran­ds and fairer advertising.

During the Sta­te of Fashi­on x VPRO Tege­nlic­ht Meet-up: ​‘Out of the Clot­hes’, we will show excer­p­ts from the Tege­nlic­ht bro­ad­cast and enga­ge in conver­sa­ti­on with the co-cura­tors, inter­lo­cu­tors of the Sta­te of Fashi­on Bien­ni­al. In addi­ti­on, Lara Wol­ters, MEP, will also join the conversation.
