Paint your own scarf with flowers and herbs with el.résidu

Ins­pi­red by fashi­on brand el.résidu’s eco-dye col­lec­ti­on, in this wor­k­shop you will dye a 60×60 cm cot­ton scarf from lef­to­ver fabrics with flowers and herbs.

The scar­ves were deve­lo­ped by a small orga­ni­sa­ti­on in India cal­led ​‘the Shir­ley foun­da­ti­on’, foun­ded by one of el.residu’s part­ners, whe­re women are given the oppor­tu­nity to learn and work on the­ir sewing skil­ls to beco­me finan­ci­al­ly independent.

Aga­inst the often pol­lu­ting che­mi­cal texti­le dyes, you can also dye fabrics with natu­ral dyes – think beetro­ot, oni­ons, flowers, her­bs, and make beauti­ful prints with them.

During this wor­k­shop, deli­ve­red by Ella Bro­uwer, fashi­on desig­ner and foun­der el.résidu, you will get: 

• A bri­ef expla­na­ti­on of the dye­ing tec­h­nique used in el.résidu’s collection
• A cot­ton scarf, to which you will apply the dye­ing tec­h­nique from the el.résidu collection
• Dif­fe­rent kin­ds of flowers and her­bs to cre­ate your own unique print.

The wor­k­shop takes abo­ut 45 to 60 minu­tes. It takes 60 minu­tes for the dye to attach to the fabric and cool down. If you can’t stay lon­ger, you can pick up your scarf at the SF/​Collective pop-up, Haar­lem­m­s­tra­at 72 in Ams­ter­dam. If you don’t live in Ams­ter­dam, we can send the scarf to your home address.
