Eating vegan has a num­ber of health bene­fits such as lower blood pres­su­re (in turn redu­ces the risk of heart disea­se, type 2 dia­be­tes, etc.)., impro­ved energy (ani­mal cholesterol/​fat clogs arte­ries), impro­ved gut health (num­ber of knock-on effects inclu­ding a bet­ter wor­king immu­ne sys­tem), and even healthier weight.

Good for the planet

Eating vegan is the most sus­tai­na­ble way to eat. Diets with meat and fish have wor­se car­bon, water, and eco­lo­gi­cal foot­prints than vegan diets. For exam­ple, it takes approx 15 000 litres of water to make just 1kg of beef, com­pa­red to the 322 litres for 1kg of vege­ta­bles. A huge amount of land spa­ce is also used to grow feed for the ani­mals which could be used to feed humans instead.
