The brand
Urban Poetry was founded in 2019 by Bodil Loïs Huisman. The brand was born out of a passion for fashion, man and nature. Bodil wanted to design lingerie that reflects your inner self and with which you can have an intimate relationship at the same time. Urban Poetry is minimalistic and romantic, ideal for the city woman.
Natural bras
The materials reach the brand in Eastern Europe. Urban Poetry mainly uses Tencel by Lenzing for the fabric and lining of the underwear, organic cotton and natural rubber for the elastic and cotton for the sewing thread. Talk about a very durable pair of underwear! Caring for mother nature is of the utmost importance to Urban Poetry. The brand certainly doesn’t want to cut short on this and that’s why it’s still looking for even more sustainable ways to produce.
Womanhood
The design work and production are all done in Amsterdam by a team of women. These employees are honestly paid and work in good working conditions. Urban Poetry cares a lot about women and therefore dedicates itself every year to a project that supports women. In 2019 1% of the turnover went to Femmes of Freedom. But love also extends to nature in a different way. For example, the brand plants trees with every item sold for the 50th time.
Circular?
Lingerie is difficult to recycle anyway, but at Urban Poetry you can bring in your old underwear and the brand will see what they can still recover. This way, useful parts will certainly not end up on the rubbish heap.
