Aurelia Paumelle

Aure­lia Pau­mel­le is a one-woman brand focu­sing on artis­a­nal gar­ment pro­duc­tion uti­li­sing tra­di­tio­nal tail­oring methods, inclu­ding hand-dra­wing, pro­to­ty­p­ing and hand-cut­ting. Her enti­re coll­ec­tions are crea­ted in her bou­tique ate­lier based in Prenz­lau­er Berg and tog­e­ther with a small ate­lier in Pol­and. Her designs are crea­ted with per­so­nal­ly sourced, fair­ly-traded, dead-stock fabrics and indi­vi­du­al garm­ents she dis­co­vers at fle­a­m­ar­kets, and vin­ta­ge stores, upcy­cling them into new crea­ti­ons. She has not dis­c­lo­sed how the mate­ri­als are manufactured.

Aure­lia avo­ids using vir­gin mate­ri­als, focu­sing on dead-stock fabrics and upcy­cling. Ins­tead, she uses a mix of natu­ral mate­ri­als and syn­the­tics that have been fair­ly traded. By upcy­cling vin­ta­ge and second-hand clot­hing, she also redu­ces her envi­ron­men­tal impact.

Both her design and pack­a­ging choices are made with cir­cu­la­ri­ty in mind. Aure­lia reclaims old pack­a­ging boxes from neigh­bou­ring shops and ful­ly upcy­cles all fabric scraps into beau­tiful bags and jackets.

All indi­vi­du­al garm­ents are crea­ted per­so­nal­ly and in-house or in a small ate­lier in the near­by Polish city of Sze­sc­zin. The dead-stock fabrics are all per­so­nal­ly sourced through one, Pari­si­an-based sup­pli­er. Vin­ta­ge garm­ents and haber­da­shery are sourced in Berlin.

Aure­lia incor­po­ra­tes upcy­cled lea­ther by using vin­ta­ge and second-hand lea­ther jackets. In addi­ti­on, her wool­len fabrics are recy­cled and of Euro­pean origin.

Aurelia’s designs are made-to-last, excep­tio­nal­ly tail­o­red and made of pre­mi­um mate­ri­als. With appro­pria­te care, the pie­ces can be enjoy­ed for many years.

Aure­lia does not dis­c­lo­se her sup­pli­ers and can­not ful­ly trace her tex­ti­les to their ori­g­ins. She designs, crea­tes and packa­ges all garm­ents herself.
