The interactive textile installation TAKE PART, which captivated visitors at Dutch Design Week last year, will return at BIG ART at the end of September. This thought-provoking artwork invited participants to contribute modular puzzle pieces in four colours, each symbolising different values connected to local production, social impact, and sustainability.
Thanks to generous donations from the Voordekunst community last year, the installation could be realised as an evolving visual statement. At BIG ART, visitors will be able to experience the largest piece created so far — consisting of more than 2,500 modular elements — and discover the outcome of the visual statistic related to conscious consumption and inclusive design.
Dutch designer Iris Nijenhuis, known for her modular wearable objects, is expanding her innovative assemblage techniques into new applications with a socially responsible focus. Her research project, TAKE PART, set to debut at the Kazerne in Eindhoven during Dutch Design Week 2024, is showcasing the value of local, socially responsible production and she is inviting the audience to engage in a collaborative modular artwork that brings these social issues to the forefront.
