The eco­lo­gi­cal collec­tion of biki­nis and swim­ming cos­tu­mes for women, ath­le­tes and girls are made of C‑Infinity. This is a high qua­lity Ita­lian pol­yes­ter fabric exclu­si­vely desig­ned for Fun­ki­ta swim­suits for women and Funky Trunks for men. Pol­yes­ter is made from man-made fabrics, which is not the most dura­ble, but for swim­wear you need a stretchy fabric that lasts and sup­ports you whi­le you work out.

The C‑Infinity con­sists of 47% pol­yethy­le­ne terephtha­la­te (PBT) and 53% pol­yes­ter. PBT is a plas­tic fibre from the plas­tic fibre family, just like pol­yes­ter. The C‑Infinity has excep­tio­nal strength, is chlo­ri­ne resis­tant, has exce­llent elas­ti­city, dries quickly and breathes very well. The fabric also has a 50+ UV sun pro­tec­tion. This gives your swim­suit a long life and you will enjoy it for years.

Every collec­tion, this eco­lo­gi­cal swim­ming cos­tu­me brand adds more pro­ducts made out of a recy­cled pol­yes­ter fibre called ​‘repre­ve fibre’ which is recy­cled along with the swim­wear. The recy­cled pol­yes­ter fibre is made from plas­tic bottles. By using recy­cled pol­yes­ter, fewer raw mate­rials need to be extrac­ted, which is bet­ter for the envi­ron­ment. The more sus­tai­na­ble pro­ducts are labe­lled with the Eco C‑Infinity label. Today, 70% of the labe­lled pro­ducts con­tain the recy­cled fibre. Fun­ki­ta and Funky Trunks hope to increa­se this to 100% in the futu­re. Their goal is to make all their swim­ming cos­tu­mes out of recy­cled pol­yes­ter fibres by 2025! A nice ambition.

All pro­ducts are eco-accre­di­ted. Becau­se they are digi­tally prin­ted, no harm­ful subs­tan­ces are relea­sed into the environment.

Ethical

The fabrics are made in Italy and woven in Chi­na. Howe­ver, the exact wor­king con­di­tions in Chi­na are still unclear to us.

Ethical

The pro­duc­tion pro­cess of the swim­wear meets the stan­dards of the Cruelty Free cer­ti­fi­ca­te, ani­mal tes­ting is prohi­bi­ted. All tests are carried out on the Fun­ki­ta team. Each pro­duct is 100% vegan, as no ani­mal pro­ducts are used in any of the Fun­ki­ta Body formulas. 

Circular economy

A lot of tex­ti­le is often lost during the cut­ting pro­cess of the fabrics. At Fun­ki­ta they use digi­tal cut­ting tech­ni­ques to redu­ce the was­te. The remai­ning fabrics are trans­for­med into fur­ni­tu­re for their offi­ces or packaging.

In addi­tion, the Aus­tra­lian brand is swit­ching to a new digi­tal prin­ting tech­no­logy, which will requi­re less water and energy to make the screen prints. Digi­tal prin­ting requi­res no extra heat.

All resi­dual water relea­sed during pro­duc­tion is reco­ve­red to flush the toilets
